The keychain contains chemically designed litmus test strips that change color when exposed to certain substances used to spike drinks. For instructions, refer to the steps above.

The strips were developed by a leading pharmaceutical company and have been tested by numerous laboratories: the Clinical Trials Laboratory Services (CTLS) and the University of Strathclyde. As of June 2024, further validation tests have been carried out by Lucideon, UK.

It's a serious issue that can affect anyone, leading to dangerous situations including theft, assault, and serious health risks as an aftermath.

Whatever you do, do not ignore your situation because you feel embarrassed. If you are still able, test your drink with a Spikey.

If you can, try and keep your drink with you. This could be used as evidence with law enforcement if you decide to press charges against your offender. Alert the police immediately and get to safety.

Spikey™ is designed to help you check your drink for GHB, Ketamine, Cocaine,
Scopolamine, and other amine-based drugs commonly used in drink spiking. It’s a screening test, not a medical device, and hasn’t been evaluated by the FDA. Smaller or trace quantities, and substances outside this list, may not be detected. Spikey does NOT detect benzodiazepines, including Xanax (alprazolam), Valium (diazepam), or Rohypnol (flunitrazepam), commonly used substances in drink spiking. A negative result doesn’t rule these out or anything else Spikey doesn’t test for, and doesn’t mean a drink is safe to drink. Dark red or milk-based drinks may cause a false positive. Bitter lemon and lime cordial may cause a false negative.

Spikey is meant to supplement, not replace, your own judgment. Keep your drink within sight, accept drinks only from people you trust, and trust your instincts. If you think a drink’s been tampered with, don’t rely on retesting; get somewhere safe and get help. If you believe you or someone else has been drugged, call 911 or seek emergency medical care right away.
